Every person boards a flight with a destination to reach, while some go off to places to enjoy a vacation, others go out for work. Nobody thinks about any kind of possible mishaps and that was exactly what the passengers of those four American Airlines had in mind, but the date of 9/11 proved out to be a curse for them, a curse that took away so many innocent lives just in the name of terrorism and religion.
A summated view of the day:
On the bright, sunny morning of September 11 in the year 2001, several passengers boarded the American Airlines to reach their respective destination, only which the destination never arrived. The 9/11 terrorist attack still to this day is considered as one of the most disastrous and deadliest attacks of the entire history. Four commercial aircraft were hijacked by the salient members of the Islamic extremist group or otherwise named as “Al-Qaeda.”
• The American Airlines Flight 11 and Unite Airlines Flight 175 were the first two which had to face the wrath of the brutal terrorist group and these were the first two flights which were flown right in between the two towers of the World Trade Centre which is located in the New York City.
• The third flight on their hijack list, American Airlines Flight 77 was steered through the outside of the Washington D.C where it hit the western part of the Pentagon resulting in a major crash and life loss.
• The last and the fourth hijacked plane was the one that never reached its desired crashing point and all because of the valiant heroes who fought throughout the entire time span not even caring about their own lives. The fourth flight United Airlines Flight 93 crashed down amidst a rural field in Pennsylvania.
The death toll reached around 3000 in the attacks, but reports have suggested that the count could have risen even more if the passengers didn’t fight back with all their heroism and lessen the casualty as possible.
A little more about it:
The attacks are notified as Flight 93 attacks because the United Airlines Flight 93 was the which got delayed by 45 minutes for their take-off and was more or less able to disrupt the plans of the hijackers who had made their way into the cabin of the flight somehow. The flight hijacker Ziad Jarrah was the one who spoke through the flight data recorder and initiated the negotiations. The passengers of this flight have been the most heroic ones who fought back till the last of their strength and never let the flight reach its desired destination, thereby putting a stop to the crash and also to the casualty number.
Remembering the lives lost:
Several memorials were built in and around the Pennsylvania crash site found the week of the attack on the United Flight 93. Not just that, in the year of 2002, Congress established a National Memorial for every person who sacrificed their lives and a permanent tribute was offered to commemorate the loss.
